Quick Tick International, one of
Houston's major contributions to the entertainment industry in
America, began it's ticket printing efforts in 1970 and since
has become known as the innovator of tickets printed quickly.
As one of the nation's top five ticket producers, over 9
billion tickets have been printed in a variety of formats. New
innovations continue to be top priority.
Don Andrews, founder of Quick Tick,
announced his retirement at the company's board of directors
meeting on December 31, 1992. Brother, Lynn Andrews, recently
retired, served as President for 4 years. Don C. Andrews, son
of the founder, has now assumed duties as President and CEO of
the privately held corporation. Each year a course is marked
out which entails new equipment to acquire, new product lines
to introduce, fresh advertising to establish, customer
promotions, sponsorships and ways to go about doing it.
Don Andrews began working with
tickets as Assistant Ticket Manager at the old Colt' 45
stadium and then progressed to Assistant Ticket Manager at the
startup of the Domed Stadium in 1965. During this period he
opened the Houston Ticket Service downtown on Main Street. He
became involved in promoting events and found out that it took
weeks to have sets of tickets printed by the established
ticket printers at the time. This made a bell go off in Don's
head and although he was then Ticket Manager at the AstroDome
and would be for the next five years, he made time to
experiment and perfect a way to print and ship tickets in
three to five days.
Hence, Quick Tick International was
incorporated on March 19, 1970 and this "quick"
method of producing tickets was an instant success.
At the heart of the operation, Quick
Tick's computer bank hosts a vast library of over 5,000 seating charts (venues) for auditoriums, arenas, coliseums,
concert halls, performing arts centers, stadiums and domes all
over the world. When customers call the company's toll-free
number, an experienced sales person will assist with the
order. Venues are checked and the correct seating information
is recalled and printed by computer. Venues are updated often,
to conform to what is required for any event.
President, Don C. Andrews is assisted
by Lisa Andrews
(Assistant President), and Ellie Varela (Marketing). The company employs 50 people.
